Yujin Lee is a spatial designer, and writer based in London who uses interior space as a medium to convey stories. Her practice focuses on constructing narrative spaces that invite audiences to the journey of discovery and wonder. Yujin’s works range from interactive exhibition designs and public pavilions to experimental and research-based projects that extract design strategies from sites.
Having worked on multidisciplinary projects, Yujin successfully collaborates with artists, curators, graphic designers, and technicians to realise unique works that reflect the dynamism of the entire creative team. She builds spaces by imagining the lived experiences of the characters who will embody those spaces and designs scenes as if she is writing a script. Her use of 3D modelling and visualisation allows her to seamlessly develop features that spark curiosity in viewers.
Yujin believes in participatory architecture that encourages audiences to actively engage with the built environment. She offers audiences infinite ways to explore and redefine her installations to make them their own. By challenging the conventional roles that define the spatial designer and visitors as the “narrator” and “listener”, she establishes a cooperative relationship with users to incorporate multiple narrative perspectives into her designs, which enables their stories to be woven into her work.
